http://www.psychcentral.com/library/pmdd2.htm

A small group of women suffer from severe and disabling mood symptoms premenstrually; about 3% to 5% of women have a mood disorder called premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). The mood symptoms occur six to ten days before a woman's period and disappear during her menstrual flow. The symptoms have a direct and severe impact on her social life and work, and aren't related to other conditions. This article provides an introduction to PMDD.
